Saltwater Roses “transcends the boundaries of musical styles. The songs and performances have a timeless feel and should be appreciated by anybody who likes good pop music.” - Tim Arsenault, Chronicle Herald
Led by vocalist/writer and guitarist Floyd Anderson, Saltwater Roses is a fluid quintet of experienced musicians who have mastered the fine art of constructing and delivering a brisk, punchy and pliant acoustic/electric sound that references enduring artists such as Graham Parker and John Hiatt without sounding slavishly derivative. The rest of the band—Tom Loane on bass, Bob Mahar on keyboards, Greg Doucette on drums, percussionist Peter Gravel and Steve Brown on guitar—play with a responsive, organic feel that easily predates synthesizers and drum machines.
In the 80s, this group was formed in the Tantramar Marshes and was then expanded to members from across New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. They began as a Beatles cover band but gradually evolved into creating their own tunes that echo the nostalgia of early 70s Van Morrison, Janis Joplin, and Kris Kristofferson.
Saltwater Roses’s concert will be held on October 22, 2016 at the Vogue Cinema, 9 Bridge Street in Sackville, NB.
“Live Bait Theatre are thrilled to have Saltwater Roses as part of our season this year and we welcome then back to Sackville where it all began.” – Shawn Bostick, General Manager of Live Bait Theatre
